History

In 2001 father and son, Ron and Nick Yager started out in business as "Yager Excavating" with a shale quarry in North Lancaster. They had a single axle dump truck, a 544A John Deere end loader, and a 1960 hammer mill for crushing.

2005 brought many updates including a name change. Yager Excavating was changed to J&N Stone (the N being for Nick and the J for Jake, Ron's other son who had begun working). The Yager family farm quarry was added along with three tri axle dump trucks, an updated roll and jaw crusher and new conveyors.

During 2006 Jake became a partner and the 3rd quarry was added in the east Cassville area. An update to four quad axle dump trucks was made.

In 2009 a fourth quarry was added in Beetown township. The biggest change of all was the decision to go into the concrete business. A ready mix plant was added along with five quad axle mixer trucks.

In 2013 J&N Stone and Ready Mix purchased Rural Excavating in Platteville along with putting up an additional ready mix plant at the Rural Excavating location.

June of 2020 we sold our ready mix plants at both the Lancaster and Platteville locations. This decision was made in order to better serve our customers with aggregate products. After this transition we combined both offices into one and that office is now located North on 61 in Lancaster. Our Platteville Shop was also moved and is now located on Hwy 80 in Platteville.

September of 2020 we added a fifth quarry located in the Potosi Township. The sixth quarry was opened in October 2022 in Bloomington Township.
